linking zip codes to nearest salesman

gary rawlings Jun 18, 2015 12:10PM PDT

i am looking for a solution that will allow:

input of zip code

and then tell me which salesperson to assign this lead to based on closest physical proximity

restated, i have 87 sales people and obviously know where they are.... i have approximately 230,000 leads

i want to assign each lead to one of the 87 sales people

this is a one time exercise so I am NOT looking at a website "store locator" solution (other than to say might be described as a "one time" store locator exercise)

regards

Hi Gary,

I’m not sure we are the best solution for you unless you can divide your map up into smaller maps of 25,000 addresses each. I would test a few of the leads with our free map service which allows you to map 250 addresses and then search via zip and if it gives you the results you are looking for. If once you create your map and you still need assistance, please let me know.

Thanks,
Tracy

We used MapPoint to accomplish the task you described for our similar nationwide team.

Hello All -

Similar question. I am growing my sales team and would like to redefine our marketing territories geographically as we add additional team members. Once our map is created, is it possible to select multiple locations and assign them to a group (ie sales manager) or does the group need to be defined in the spreadsheet before the map is created? So if I want all locations North of a Highway X and East of Interstate Y to go to Rep Joe, can that be done? Please let me know if that makes sense.

Thanks!
Steph

Hi Stephanie,

You can use Advanced Mode Selection tools to select the records and then paste that into a spreadsheet. Modify the spreadsheet and then paste back into the data window to update your map.

That is a simplified explanation, but you have to update the spreadsheet to make updates to your map.

Let me know if you need more detail or have further questions.

thanks,
Tracy
